As of 2019, heckelphone #4992 was located in London, UK, owned by noted bassoonist, John Orford, who is likely to have acquired the instrument directly from Heckel and played it regularly with many British orchestras, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as for opera productions at Covent Garden and the English National Opera.
